I love a new beginning. New Year’s Day is one of my favorite holidays because of the fresh start that it offers. Shedding the layers of the previous year, wiping the slate clean; it feels as though the possibilities are endless.
Personally, New Year’s resolutions are tricky. It’s nearly impossible for me to stick with something for more than a couple weeks, never mind a year. Keeping this in mind, this year I’ll be making fresh intentions for each month. I’m hoping the novelty will help keep them at the forefront of my mind throughout 2019, while allowing flexibility in adjusting them as the year progresses.
For the past few years I have cued up a word that I want to be at the heart of the next year. Examples of past years’ words have included courage and joy. This year, my word is FOCUS. I am scattered most of the time, starting lots of projects with little to no completion. Full of good intentions with little follow through. This year, I want to change this. I want to be more focused; less on the quantity of “what if” dreams and ideas and more honed in on the steps to make one or two dreams or ideas come to life.
Here’s to a healthy, adventure-filled, and focused 2019!
